Cambodians Living in Europe Announce Readiness to Receive PM Hun Sen During Upcoming Visit

PHNOM PENH: Cambodians living in European countries have expressed a readiness to receive Prime Minister Hun Sen during his upcoming visit to commemorate the 45th Anniversary of ASEAN-EU relations.

A collective of Cambodians living in European countries such as Switzerland, Belgium and France recently released a video expressing their happiness and support for Prime Minister Hun Sen’s upcoming visit to Europe in order to commemorate the 45th anniversary of ASEAN-EU Relations on 14 December 2022.

In the video, they state that they are waiting to receive Prime Minister Hun Sen in Europe and will voluntarily come to meet him even on working days.

One Cambodian living in Europe said, "I am very pleased to hear that Samdech Techo will be coming to Europe soon to mark the 45th anniversary of ASEAN-Europe relations, even on working days I will still go to meet Samdech. Even though we have met Samdech once or twice already, we still want to meet him again without any coercion from any group."

Cambodians in France also said that they would go and voluntarily and wholeheartedly welcome the Prime Minister to Europe, and expressed happiness over the news that the Cambodian leader will soon be visiting.

One Cambodian in France, Touch Khon, said, "We will go and receive Samdech, no one has come and forced us to do this, I go with all my heart and with my family and my sister.”

An elderly Cambodian woman living in France also said that she will go to wholeheartedly welcome and congratulate the Prime Minister without any coercion or payment.

A young Cambodian woman living in the United Kingdom, working as a civil servant at the Ministry of Rural Development and studying for a master's degree, also expressed her pleasure to welcome the Prime Minister and thanked him for all his efforts to develop Cambodia in all fields.

A family living in London further expressed their happiness after receiving the news that Prime Minister Hun Sen would come to Europe and take the opportunity to meet with Cambodians living there. The family confirmed that they go and voluntarily receive the Prime Minister every time he visits, facing no coercion, as some groups have alleged. The family said they will continue to support Prime Minister Hun Sen leading the country toward peace and development.

Prime Minister Hun Sen will visit and commemorate the 45th anniversary of ASEAN-EU relations in Belgium on 12 December 2022. During his visit, he will also meet with some of the Cambodian people living there.
